For many people who have decided to do surgery or injectables like dermal fillers or Sculptra, they worry about getting bruises and healing. In fact, we get the question all the time. How much will I bruise after Restylane or Juvederm? How long will I bruise after Sculptra? How big will the bruise be if I get filler? Short answer. We don’t know. We can tell you from historical experience what we usually see but there is no way to guarantee you won’t bruise. Having worked in a plastic surgery practice for over 20 years, we can tell you that facelift and blepharoplasty patients are very concerned about healing and bruising. At Charmed Medispa, we not only concentrate on the prep for treatments but we are also prepared for potential bruising and healing after treatments. We utilize a few resources for bruising and swelling as follows:
- Ocumend Healing Pads. You can see from this before and after photo from Cearna that there are exceptional differences in the area that was treated with Ocumend pads and the area that was not treated with Ocumend pads. These pads are applied to the treatment or surgical area and stay on for 6 hours per pad application. A new set of pads are applied after this until you are free from bruising. In our experience, they diminish bruising by more than 50% in severity and duration. This is extremely helpful to our busy lifestyle to get back to normal. As we know, bruising can last 7-10 days. Ocumend pads are essential to restore you so that you can focus on your results.
- Laser Therapy with Intense Pulsed Light. If you have a bruise, you can also treat it with Intense Pulsed Light which will help eliminate the bruise quicker. Sometimes we do Intense Pulsed Light the same day as treatment and then send the client home with the Ocumend pads.
- Arnicare Tablets. This is a homeopathic remedy you can take orally to heal your body from the inside out. Arnica Tablets have no drug interactions and works naturally with your body. You can start Arnicare tablets up to one week before treatments or surgery to also facilitate not bruising in the first place. Arnica Tablets provide pain relief from muscles and stiffness and also help decrease swelling. Some of our clients use it every day just because their muscles feel better doing so.
