Our Delaware med spa does a tremendous amount of lip filler injections with products like Juvederm, Restylane and Versa. Let us walk you through what to expect when you have lip filler injections.
First, we do a very comprehensive consultation to review what your concerns and to exam the lip itself. We check for asymmetry in the lips, the balance between the upper and lower lips, look at the contours and wrinkles within the lips as well how the lip moves when you smile and talk. Some patients lips curl inside when they smile especially the upper lip. Some patients have less volume on one side of the lip. All of these are important to discuss prior to lip injections so that we can obtain your best results.
Prior to injection, we also discuss what one syringe of filler will do versus multiple syringes. Many Juvederm and Restylane filler products have optimal results with more than one syringe. One syringe of Juvederm or Restylane products like Volbella, Vollure and Juvederm Ultra Plus will only get you slightly bigger and smoother. Be careful when you see Instagram and social media posts showing immediately after results. In one week, those results will change and we believe that before and after photos should be taken at least one week apart from treatment when swelling is gone, This is a true lip filler before and after result.
Treatment with lip filler includes applying a topical numbing cream first and then proceeding with treatment. Lip filler treatment is completely customized and Loraine Savarese, RN, our injection specialist with over 15 years experience injecting lips, will do the treatment the will enhance your lips and often correct asymmetries and balance the lips more evenly. Lip filler treatment should be comfortable. You will ice immediately after treatment and can expect a few days of swelling. The most swelling occurs the next day after lip filler and then subsides. After a week, you can decide if you want additional lip filler since optimal correction may take more than one syringe of filler.
The main take away from filler injections if you are hesitant to have lip filler treatment is that the results look and feel natural!
