Chemical peels have been around for more than 20 years and we were there when it happened. They used to come in a foil lined packet and you ripped it open, applied it and that was it. Sometimes you neutralized it. Most of these peels back then were glycolic acid peels in strengths that ranged from 20%-50% and higher. The only other peel was a much stronger peel using TCA which basically burned the skin completely off. You have the choice of a little peel or a peel that was kind of frightening.
Thankfully, we have so many more options today. We have combination ingredients and add on ingredients. Chemical peels can be pH balanced so they don’t burn. There are better peels for oily skin and better peels for dry skin. There are peels that make you peel more and peels that make you peel less.
