There are many different aspects about dermal fillers like Restylane, Juvederm and Versa that surprises people. Our aesthetic injection special, Loraine Savarese, RN, has been injecting fillers since 2003 and was one of the first injectors in the state to learn the fine art of fillers and she remarks, “I’ve been continually enthused about the evolution of fillers and how many advancements there have been over the years and their surprising benefits just keep growing”.
Did you know these interesting facts about filler?
- Fillers come in different molecule sizes and thickness of the filler product. There are HA fillers that are better for lips and ones that are better for the upper face like the cheeks. You want to lift the cheeks and that requires a filler that has a bigger HA molecule like Restylane Lyft or Voluma. In contrast, when you are treating acne scars and fine lines with fillers, you want to smooth the skin and the placement is more superficial than the upper face cheek contouring. Restylane Refyne and Defyne are great choices for more superficial lines and wrinkles. It’s important that our med spa has a full spectrum of fillers to make sure the right filler is used for the right area and concerns. One of our favorite lip fillers is Versa which comes in a bigger size than Juvederm Ultra for the same price. These two filler products are very similar so why not get more for free!
- Fillers also rebuild collagen and results start to last longer and longer after time. The collagen rebuild can improve fine lines and wrinkles, increase the firmness of the skin and create longer lasting results.
- There is also a misconception that fillers will make you look unnatural. We bet you could not pick out 99.9% of people who have had filler in a line up. Fillers can be used in a variety of fashions and it takes a lot of filler (and a personal obsession or desire) to look “done” or fake. In reality, fillers take you back to a place when you had less wrinkles and less sagging.
- Fillers also are well tolerated treatments. At Charmed Medispa, we apply a numbing cream before treatments to assist in your comfort.
The most common areas for dermal fillers are the nasolabial folds and lips. Lips are a very popular treatment option and one syringe of filler in the lips can make you plumper and smoother but will not give you a significant change in volume. Fillers can also be used under the eyes for the hollow area, depressed temples, acne scars, to lift the cheeks and get more contour as well as smile lines, hand rejuvenation, jawline and chin contours and more.
