Sofwave™ is an FDA cleared, non-invasive treatment of fine lines and wrinkles using a next generation SUPERB™ Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam Technology. In December 2022 Sofwave™ was approved by FDA for the short-term improvement of cellulite, making it another viable option for cellulite.
The fractional heating effect created by Sofwave’s unique ultrasound delivery stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin, which leads to the reduction in fine lines and wrinkles. Charmed Medispa proudly takes the lead as the first practice in Delaware to introduce Sofwave.
Our team, Loraine Savarese and Shae Ryan, did extensive research and demonstrations of Sofwave before electing to endorse Sofwave. You can rest assured that we did a deep dive on Sofwave and found peer providers and patients happy with results. Check out the social media profiles on Sofwave to see for yourself the overall thumbs up! It took our team one year of discovery to decide to bring on Sofwave to our practice having done this profound research. We are happy to be the first in Delaware to have Sofwave.
How Does Sofwave™ Work?
The depth for treating wrinkles is 1.5mm in the mid-dermis. The unique, Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam SUPERB™ technology generates heat at this exact depth in the mid-dermis. This excitement in the dermis stimulates lifting of the skin.
Additionally, there is an integrated cooling mechanism Sofcool™ that protects the uppermost skin layer from burning. To enhance your experience with Sofwave at Charmed Medispa, we additionally use a zimmer cooling device for added comfort.
The impacted treatment zones stimulate a healing response, called neo-collagenases, which increases and regenerates the collagen in the skin, leading to the reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, lifting of the skin and improvement in acne scarring.
HOW IS SOFWAVE™ BETTER THAN OTHER EXISTING TECHNOLOGIES?
Today there are various energy-based technologies designed to treat facial lines and wrinkles. Treatments with downtime like laser resurfacing can cause controlled damage to the skin surface, leading to a healing period with downtime and may have a risk of side effects. Even RF micro needling treatments like Morpheus 8 that have recently become popular can be uncomfortable, risky and require downtime.
Gentler, non-invasive solutions such as Exilis Ultra have shown efficacy but require multiple treatments spaced 1-2 weeks apart. This makes Sofwave stand alone with single treatments without downtime and enhanced results.
Sofwave™’s unique technology enables the controlled delivery of energy in terms of amount and location, while protecting the skin surface with an integrated cooling mechanism. Even better, patients do not have to do any healing protocols after treatment.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?
Typically, the treatment protocol calls for 1 treatment, depending on the patient’s skin condition. If a patient has significant loose skin or acne scarring, more treatments of Sofwave may be recommended in 3 months.
WHAT DOES THE SOFWAVE™ TREATMENT FEEL LIKE?
As the ultrasound energy is delivered, you may feel warmness of the skin. Treatment is comfortable simply by applying a topical anesthetic cream prior to the treatment. Following the treatment, there are no sensations and there is no need to apply special care on the skin. Daily care can be resumed immediately post Sofwave treatment.
WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO SEE RESULTS?
The collagen regeneration process can sometimes take up to 12 weeks, so patients are expected to see ongoing improvements in the 3-month period after their Sofwave treatment.
In Sofwave™’s clinical trials, results have been shown in as little as post one treatment. At Charmed Medispa, your provider will evaluate your goals and skin condition and be able to make a plan for Sofwave success.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS WITH SOFWAVE?
Sofwave™ is a non-invasive treatment for skin tightening. Clinical trials have shown the technology to be effective and safe.
Immediately post treatment the skin may appear slightly red, with limited swelling for up to a few hours post treatment. Makeup and skin care can be applied immediately after treatment. This makes Sofwave an ideal choice for patients who are looking for slow and steady results without filler, bruising or indications of treatment.
WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED WITH SOFWAVE?
The beauty of Sofwave is that it can treat the face, jowls, neck and even lift hooded eyelids. Our biggest use for Sofwave at Charmed Medispa in Delaware is for sagging neck tissue where there are limited options for non-surgical rejuvenation. Sofwave has been the first technology we endorse to lift and contour the neck with a single treatment.
In addition to the face, neck and eyelids, Sofwave can be performed on the body for sagging skin and treatment areas include the arms, especially the upper arms, stomach and above the knees. Sofwave has no limits on where it can be done and our providers will guide you on whether Sofwave is the right choice for your concerns.
