Here’s an important fact about lip filler. The FDA approval to do a lip augmentation with dermal filler (when you will clearly expect to get a volume change) is 3 full syringes of filler. So if you are using only one syringe of filler like Restylane or Juvederm, you will only get plumper and smoother but not much bigger at all. Our clients like this and often being smoother is their desired outcome. Often one syringe of filler in the lips does the trick and clients are happy and maybe some risk of wanting more (never less). Often, we are just putting back the volume that they used to have so that there are less lines within the lips.
When you are going for bigger lips, you may need more than one syringe of filler. At Charmed Medispa, to get you started, we will often inject one syringe and allow you to see how you like it (you will) and then we can add more only if you want. We can work up to the volume you want. About 80% of clients are fully satisfied with one syringe even though the FDA approval is 3 syringes. The results of filler in the lips will last about 6-9 months. In addition, filler will rebuild collagen so eventually, the results of lip filler lasts longer.
There is some anticipated swelling after lip filler so schedule when you can be prepared for this. Swelling usually lasts about 24-48 hours. Some clients love the swelling and “extra” full lip day but most clients will avoid social and work circles during this time.
Don’t worry, your lips will feel and look natural after injections. Lips are still kissable and soft. You will only be sad when the filler starts to go away.
